College athletes already don't go to school. I see nothing wrong with it. College sports is already a farm system. Most of the athletes aren't doing the work in real classes.
That is one of the problems Mob. Even the superstars who make it pro and are filthy rich for a short time and go broke after retiring, usually with stupid decisions. Decisions that could have been avoided with a little education along the way. Plus the percentage of athletes that actually go pro is so small.
Going pro does not guarantee multi millions a year. How many guys are riding the bench making league min? One incident or injury could be the end of a career and now what? no plan B. It is good to chase a dream but putting all your eggs in a basket that provides such a small chance a success is just foolish. Educating oneself should be encouraged and the direction of this league is the opposite of that. This will set black culture back by years.
Lol league minimum is about 50 times higher salary than the median salary. The league minimum salary is 1.5million and being a lottery pick pays much more than that.
8 months at college is completely useless for a top 10 ranked player that wants to go to the NBA.
No plan B? Dude if you're like 25 if you leave the NBA, you can then go back to college. You are aware it is allowed to start school when you aren't a teenager?
People who have a skill wanting to get paid for it, what an epidemic!
LOL dude how many players go back to college after going pro? We read about them getting screwed over in business deals, suing managers, filing for BK. You are talking top 10 ranked players. hahaha Lets talk top 60 who get drafted. That is the exception and not even all of them ever pan out in the NBA. Lets look at the 2013 draft class (https://www.basketball-reference.com/draft/NBA_2013.html) The #1 overall pick couldn't even make it. How many of these dudes are even still in the NBA? How many from the 2nd round even made it 2 years in the league? You are talking about .5% and forgetting about the other 99.5% and those numbers are even more lopsided when we look at who actually makes it past 5 years in the league.
